Donald Trump has revoked Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection, ending the security detail extended by Joe Biden before leaving office. As a former vice president, Harris was entitled to six months of protection, but Biden quietly signed an order giving her an extra year. Trump has now quietly unsigned it.
If she’s really worried, she can buy one of those big dogs. Works for my cousin Gary.

The decision lands just as Harris begins her book tour for 107 Days, a memoir about her brief, doomed presidential campaign. The timing raised eyebrows, with critics suggesting it was less about cost-cutting and more about Trump’s hobby of revoking things. Since January, he has yanked protection from Hunter Biden, Anthony Fauci, Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, and reportedly even the Easter Bunny, who once whispered something “very suspicious” at the White House egg roll.
A White House memo obtained by reporters instructed the Secret Service to stop “any security-related procedures” for Harris, meaning she will no longer have agents guarding her Los Angeles home or running proactive threat intelligence. Instead, if she wants to keep bodyguards, she’ll need to pay millions out of pocket, or, as Trump told reporters, “She can hire mall cops, they’re very tough, I know some of the best mall cops.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass slammed the move, calling it political retaliation. Bass told CNN: “This puts Harris in danger. I’ll personally make sure she is safe in Los Angeles, though I admit my plan mostly involves standing near her and looking cross.”
Harris has faced multiple threats during her career, with prosecutors jailing both a Florida woman and a Virginia man for violent plots against her. Critics warn that removing her security is reckless, though Trump allies insist the risk assessment “didn’t find anything alarming.”
As one Washington insider put it: “The Secret Service is still fully engaged where it matters most, protecting Trump while he posts on Truth Social about toilets. Everyone else is on their own.”
It’s a new low. Next week he’ll probably announce Joe Biden has to start paying for his own Wi-Fi.”
