Elon Musk has ridiculed Sir Keir Starmer’s Britain after it was revealed that shiny new-build houses worth £300,000 each have been given to asylum seekers, while locals continue battling to get on the property ladder and instead remain trapped in their parents’ conservatories.
The homes, described in glossy brochures as “eco-friendly, modern, and designed for comfort,” include sleek kitchens, underfloor heating, and even EV charging points, which has enraged locals who say they still cannot get a working radiator or a parking permit. One man in Suffolk reportedly shouted at the estate agent: “I applied for council housing in 2004 and the only thing I got was a leaflet for Wickes kitchens.”
It is important to remember that these homes are temporary accommodation. By which we mean the migrants will live there temporarily, until they are permanently British
Labour backbencher
Musk posted a link to the story on X and added the comment: “This must stop now.” He did not clarify whether he meant asylum seekers, underfloor heating, or the UK in general, although he later liked a post suggesting Britain should be “launched into orbit and sold to Mars colonists.”

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will today try to calm tempers, although her message that “Labour’s plan is working” may be undermined by the fact that the plan currently involves putting migrants into houses that look like they were designed for a Netflix show called Escape to the Suburbs.
One councillor praised the scheme as a “success” and said the community had responded positively. That optimism was slightly undermined by the crowd of locals protesting outside the properties, many holding placards reading “We want a kitchen island too” and “Where is my Tesla charger?”
